It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
