Supporters Call for Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are urging that a person who breached a barrier and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said one more response on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
